A 78-year-old woman has died from snake bites in Northern California, marking the third deadly snake bite victim in the state this year.

The City of Palos Verdes Estates is issuing a warning after someone was recently bitten by a rattlesnake.

The sheriff’s office stated that the preliminary cause of death was determined to be disseminated intravascular coagulopathy — a serious blood-clotting disorder — along with snake envenomation.
